Advanced Nutrition Brings Dairyland Initiative Courses to Scotland
Advanced Nutrition are inviting customers in Scotland to a series of Technical Hoof Trimming Courses from the Dairyland Hoof Care Institute UK and Ark Vets in Lockerbie.
The courses are aimed farmers and farm staff who are looking to improve cow mobility on their dairy farms. The delegates will obtain a complete understanding of hoof health and become proficient at hoof trimming in this comprehensive technical course.
The courses are due to take place on March 28th for four days in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, where delegates will spend two days at the Ark Vet Centre and two days on farm. Topics will include:-
- Economics of Lameness
- Bovine lower leg anatomy
- Dairy Environments and how they influence hoof health
- Disease identification
- Functional hoof trimming
- Functional and therapeutic procedures
- Advanced bloc application
- Causes of infectious claw diseases
- Treatment products and protocols
The course will conclude with a Lameness Prevention Action Plan that the delegates can take back to their own farm businesses. The courses will be led by David Rowe who has been foot trimming for over 25 years and providing training courses globally as well as Dairyland courses in the UK for more than 10 years.
The Dairyland Hoof Care Institute, Inc was founded in 1995 to provide innovative solutions for the international hoof health industry. They have a desire to make a positive impact in the hoof health industry and by sharing their expertise with others they want to make a positive impact on the dairy industry as a whole. This is a philosophy also shared by Iain Dick at Ark Vets and Advanced Nutrition. Advanced Nutrition recently set up Advanced Mobility to meet the challenge of herd mobility, creating a path to ongoing lameness prevention and improving cow health and welfare.
