Advanced Robot Driving Impressive Results in the 1st Month
Richard Bainbrige recently started working with Robert Staveley at Throstle Nest Farm who milks 200 cows through 4 Lely Robots
Richard Bainbridge, one of our Ruminant Nutritionist's working as part of our Robotic division - Advanced Robot started working with Robert Staveley, in October of this year. Robert farms at Throstle Nest in Skipton North Yorkshire and is enjoying a significant increase in yield and an improvement in visits in just one month, following Richard's initial changes.
We spoke to Robert who comments, “Previous to working with Richard Bainbridge and Advanced Robot we were struggling with the balance of ration and forage. Whilst, we’d got it right initially, we started to struggle both with what was being fed at the trough and at the robot. Visits were lower than expected and we knew milk yield could be improved.
We started looking for a company that was experienced in nutrition and robots, we didn’t just want a feed rep. Having spoken to Richard and looking at the Advanced Robot division on their website, we could see the depth of experience, so we got them on board.
Richard balanced the diet to match the current forage, improving digestion and maximising intakes, which have already increased. With the introduction of their robot nut, visits increased immediately. He also analysed the robot data and tweaked the robot settings increasing access across the board.
In just a month, milk yields have gone from 31Kg – 36Kg and visits have improved from 2.9 to 3.2. Purchased feed per KG of milk is now lower in response to the forage intakes and we now see an improvement in animal health. Richard regularly monitors the robot data and continues to tweak things to maintain performance.”
