Working with ARN offers us the access to and backup from a wide network of other very experienced professionals and experts from other nutritionists to foot trimmers and vets, to work through any issues or design and implement protocols that works for our herd.
The short version
- We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to run the website. These are always on.
- We use analytics cookies (Google Analytics) and marketing cookies (Meta, X/Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, ShareThis) only if you agree to them.
- When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and no non-essential cookie is set until you choose.
- You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the website footer, or through your browser.
This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
1. About this policy
This policy explains how Advanced Ruminant Nutrition Ltd uses cookies and similar technologies on www.arn-ltd.co.uk, what each one does, how long it lasts, and how you can control them.
It is written to reflect the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (“PECR”), the UK GDPR, and the Information Commissioner’s Office (“ICO”) guidance on the use of cookies and similar technologies.
“We”, “us” and “our” means Advanced Ruminant Nutrition Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 06006141), registered office 14 Mannin Way, Lancaster Business Park, Lancaster LA1 3SW. We are the data controller for personal data processed through cookies on this website.
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you return, the browser sends the cookie back, so the site can recognise your device, remember your settings, or measure how the site is used.
“Similar technologies” do the same kind of job by other means. This website also uses:
- Local storage and IndexedDB — larger stores kept in your browser, used mainly by embedded YouTube and Meta content.
- Tracking pixels — tiny image or script requests (for example from Meta and X/Twitter) that record that a page or action loaded.
- Software Development Kits (SDKs) and tags — third-party scripts, such as Google Analytics, that read and write the cookies listed below.
Wherever this policy says “cookie”, it means all of these technologies. The ICO’s rules on consent apply to all of them equally.
3. How we ask for your consent
The first time you visit www.arn-ltd.co.uk — and again once your stored preference expires — you are shown a cookie banner. From it you can:
- Accept all cookies;
- Reject all non-essential cookies (this option is given equal prominence to “Accept”); or
- Open the detailed settings and choose category by category — Preferences, Statistics (analytics) and Marketing.
Strictly necessary cookies do not need your consent and cannot be switched off, because the site cannot work properly without them. Every other cookie is blocked until you give consent, and your choice is recorded so we can demonstrate it.
Consent is not bundled with anything else, we do not treat continued scrolling or browsing as consent, and no boxes are pre-ticked.

7. Third-party services and international transfers
Some cookies are set by third parties whose content we embed or whose tools we use. We do not control those cookies. Their own policies apply:
- Google (Analytics, reCAPTCHA, YouTube) — policies.google.com/technologies/cookies
- Meta Platforms (Facebook Pixel) — facebook.com/policies/cookies
- X Corp. (X/Twitter) — help.x.com/en/rules-and-policies/x-cookies
- Vimeo — vimeo.com/cookie_policy
- ShareThis — sharethis.com/privacy
- Cloudflare — cloudflare.com/cookie-policy
Several of these providers are based in the United States and may process data there or in other countries outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are protected by an appropriate safeguard recognised under the UK GDPR — the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or the International Data Transfer Agreement / addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Our Privacy Policy has more detail on international transfers and your rights.
8. How to change or withdraw your choices
On this website
Use the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of any page. It re-opens the consent banner so you can turn categories on or off or reject everything non-essential. Changes take effect straight away for new cookies; existing non-essential cookies are cleared by the consent tool or expire as shown above.
In your browser
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. This works for every website you visit, not just ours. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of this site working.
Opting out of analytics and advertising
- Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Your Online Choices (UK/EU advertising preferences): youronlinechoices.com/uk
9. How long cookies stay on your device
Each table above gives the lifetime of every cookie. In summary:
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies stay until they reach the expiry date shown, or until you delete them. Durations on this site range from one minute (_gat) to two years (_ga, muc_ads, personalization_id).
- Local storage and IndexedDB entries have no fixed expiry and remain until cleared by the third party or by you.
Your consent itself is remembered for up to 12 months, after which the banner is shown again.
10. Changes to this policy
We review this policy whenever we add, remove or change the services on our website, and at least once a year. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes affecting non-essential cookies will be reflected in the consent banner, and you will be asked to make your choices again.
